Make it easy for visitors to find content on your site
No matter how brilliant the design of your website, if it is difficult to reach the content of your site then your site is as useful as an empty shell. Here are some tips to improve the usability of its website to make sure it serves its functions optimally.
The first method is to make sure the typography of your content is appropriate. If you have large blocks of text, be sure to use CSS to separate the lines accordingly. The longer a single line of text, the higher the line the height of each line should be. Also, make sure that the size of the text font is large enough to read easily. Some sites have 10-pixel tall text in Verdana font, while it may look clean and tidy, you have to strain your eyes to actually read the text.
Make it easy for visitors to find content you want on your site. If you have thousands of items in place and a certain visitor needs to find a single article from that pile, you have to provide a viable means for visitors to do so without problems. Whether it is a SQL-driven search engine database or just a glossary or index of articles you have, providing a feature will make your visitors can easily use the site.
Make sure your site loads fast if you do not want to lose visitors. Most Internet users leave a website if it does not load completely within 15 seconds, so make sure the crème de la crème of your website visitors is delivered as soon as possible to keep their attention.
Finally, try to link every one in place before they go online. Nothing is more effective in tarnishing your professional image of broken links, so be careful with that.
